Avondale Racecourse is a top notch turf track, 1800m right-handed, with a 450m straight. It is an all-weather track – loved by jockeys and horse owners for its high quality and consistency. Widely supported – albeit in difficult circumstances because the venue is starved of Saturday or Sunday racing – the racetrack is acknowledged as giving every ‘runner’ a fair chance to perform well. This ensures our racing is filled with fun and excitement. Come and join us when we host ‘Industry Day’ racing!
The racecourse is situated on the corner of Rosebank Road and Ash Street, Avondale. Public access and general parking on race days is via Ash Street. Members access and parking is via Elm Street (off Rosebank Road). Officials, owners and jockeys use the Elm Street access too.
Free parking. Out-of-town visitors are welcome to complimentary ticketing – just ask at the Office.
When at Avondale Racecourse, photo ID may be required for the purchase of alcohol. Patrons are not permitted to bring alcohol onto the premises. All children 12 years and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Avondale Jockey Club hosts a number of race days each year, attracting owners, trainers, jockeys and race goers from across the North Island. It is a great family day out with activities for everyone. Come and join in the fun! Racing starts around midday. Free entry and parking.
